Young Jeezy Releases Mixtape ‘It’s Tha World’
The week isn’t even over, and Young Jeezy’s career has already seen both some of its high and low points. Added to the former is a new mixtape, announced today. Titled It’s Tha World, the mixtape features 17 tracks and several guest appearances. Joining the rapper is 2 Chainz, YG, Trey Songz, Birdman, E-40, Lil Boosie, and Lodie. Lodie, as well, is one of the mixtape’s producers, along with Jahlil Beats, Kenoe, The Renegades, Warren G, and Mike Will Make It.
The mixtape is, perhaps, overshadowed by a larger announcement: the rapper’s own CTE World label joined forces with Atlantic Records. Not only are the two labels working in conjunction, but Jeezy is serving as Senior Vice President, A&R of Atlantic, to which he was appointed in August. CTE is now expected to be operated by Young Jeezy and Craig Kallman, the Atlantic Records Chairman. In a statement, the rapper said: "[T]his is a fresh start for the CTE brand as we re-launch it. This is why I chose to wipe the slate clean and create an outlet to support and nurture new artists to the best of my ability."
Nevertheless, along with the good news is the departure of Freddie Gibbs from CTE. Gibbs, apparently, left the label on good terms, and Jeezy said to the press: "Freddie is a talented artist and I decided that it's time to press reset on my career and business ventures."
Also revealed yesterday is Rick Ross’ admittance to choking Young Jeezy at the recent BET Hip-Hop Awards. Rozay came clean when taking with 99 Jamz host Felisha Monet.
