Yoko Ono's Menswear Collection is All About the Crotch
Anyone who has followed her life and career knows that Yoko Ono is a little offbeat but her new menswear clothing line might leave a few people scratching their heads (or other areas of their bodies…).
Inspired by her late husband, John Lennon, the 79-year-old artist/designer collaborated with Opening Ceremony to create a collection that was based on sketches titled “Fashions for Men” that she gave her groom as a wedding present back in 1969.
Here’s the “interesting” part about the line – it focuses on the male genitalia. Ono recently explained that she was amazed by how great her man looked and she felt that it was “a pity” that there weren’t more clothes to emphasize “his very sexy bod.” She went on to say, of Lennon: “I made this whole series with love for his hot bod and gave it to him as a wedding present. You can imagine how he went wild and fell in love with me even more."
The clothing line includes some eye-catching designs like pants with a handprint over the crotch area, a black jockstrap (perfect for meeting the family!) and a mesh top with the nipple areas cut out.
The pieces range from $75-$750 and will become available on November 30, 2012 at the Opening Ceremony stores (but are also currently available online).
