Willow Smith Has a... Tongue Ring!?

The offspring of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have always caused people to pause due to their lack of rules (Will and Jada don’t believe in rules), their outlandish clothing and very early interest in becoming famous.

Earlier this year, the couple’s 11-year-old daughter, Willow, caused quite a stir when she shaved her head (after releasing a song about “whipping her hair back and forth”) and began dyeing the new regrowth in a variety of hues.  Still, hair grows back, no harm no foul, right?

Well, now the little girl has surfaced in a picture showing her wearing a tongue ring.  Yes, this pre-teen has a tongue piercing. 

I’m trying to be neutral here, since she’s not my child, but the original reason why women started getting tongue studs is entirely too mature and sexual for a person of this age.  Of course, she may not know about all of that but, really, it’s just a matter of time before she does because someone who sees her with it is going to want to say something.

Will Smith tried to explain his reasoning in a recent interview: "If I teach her that I'm in charge of whether or not she can touch her hair, she's going to replace me with some other man when she goes out in the world. She has got to have command of her body. So when she goes out into the world, she's going out with a command that is hers."

I don’t know about that theory but she’s definitely ticking things off her list as a young child, things that would normally be done during someone’s late teens and college years. What boundaries is she going to have left to push once she gets to that stage in life?
