Will.i.am Beams 'Reach For The Stars' From Mars (Lyric Video)
Earlier today, KOvideo alerted the world about will.i.am's latest project of beaming his latest track from Mars.
Now that the event has happened, the "Reach for the Stars" lyric video is now available, as shown below.
Recapping on the events leading up to this latest spectacular event, will.i.am's latest track "Reach for the Stars" was broadcast from the surface of Mars to Earth via the Curiosity rover. The distance involved is a staggering 166 million miles (265 million km). US space agency NASA supported the project by allowing Curiosity to act as a $2.5 billion radio station beaming the song back to Earth. This live streaming was all part of an educational exercise to showcase NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasedena, California - even though it lasted just over four minutes.
Of course, will.i.am was present at the historic event. Officials announced a new partnership between NASA, will.i.am's i.am.angel Foundation, and Discovery Education.
The track, "Reach for the Stars" is "a new composition about the singer's passion for science, technology and space exploration." When will.i.am wrote the song - last year - as Curiosity blasted off toward Mars, will.i.am announced on Twitter, "My song is finally going to be beamed back to earth."
A teaser of the song was released last week – the same week that astronaut Neil Armstrong passed away. The lyrics sample stated, "Why do they say the sky is the limit/ When I've seen them footprints on the moon?" ... "I know that Mars might be far/ but baby it ain't really that far."
Interestingly, now hearing the song, one notices that the single has a very "star wars" dramatic sound about it - especially the grand introduction and the extended, booming finale. The track is really characteristic of a tune normally attributed to space travel, ensuring that it really fits will.i.am's "passion for science, technology and space exploration."
