VMA 2012 Best Male Performance: Chris Brown “Turn Up the Music”

Brown took home the second award of the evening, beating out the other male nominees. VMA 2012 Best Male Performance: Chris Brown “Turn Up the Music”

Chris Brown, with bleach blond/blue streaked hair, accepted the Male award for his single “Turn Up the Music.”  He beat out Justin Bieber (“Boyfriend”), Usher (“Climax”), Drake featuring shared ex-girlfriend, Rihanna (“Take Care”) and new artist, Frank Ocean (“Swim Good”).

The reaction was a little interesting when he first got up on stage to accept his award and, acknowledging the fact that not everyone is in his corner, Brown immediately thanked “Team Breezy” for their support which has really helped his career recover from the damage it suffered after he pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna several years ago.

Truthfully, I’m sure that more than a few people were really expecting Bieber to win considering the fact that “Boyfriend” has been one of his best-performing singles ever but the power of “Team Breezy” and the allure of a song with a strong beat can’t be underestimated.
