Usher Takes Time to Focus on Family, Postpones Tour

After a summer filled with stress, loss and heartache, the singer is taking a time out. Usher Takes Time to Focus on Family, Postpones Tour

It has been an extremely rough year for Usher and his family.  Not only has he been engaged in a very ugly custody battle with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, but the boys he shares with her lost their older half-brother after he died as the result of a tragic boating accident.  The 11-year-old was left brain dead after a jet ski struck him in the head.

Just a month later, Usher and Foster returned to court to settle the custody of their two sons, 4-year-old Usher Raymond V and 3-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond.  Incredibly, the singer was granted primary custody which is rare for a father.

After such an eventful and sad summer, Usher has decided to postpone his European tour dates so that he could spend more time with his children.  He was supposed to be overseas in early 2013 through the fall but has explained to his fans that the Euphoria Tour is going to have to wait.

It is an entirely respectable decision in light of everything that has happened. With the boys being so young, they probably really need a little calm and stability in their lives and it shows that he is committed to more than just his career.

Usher has not announced any plans to scrap his decision to join The Voice when the fourth season premieres in the spring.
