Is this really the same Rihanna who took the charts by storm with SOS, that electro-pop-tastic take on Tainted Love? Regrettably, yes - this overwrought ballad smacks of cynicism, an attempt to keep all the usual album-filling bases covered rather than develop the upbeat style which clearly suits Rihanna so much better. Plinky piano melodies, plasticky strings and hilariously melodramatic lyrics add up to one very disappointing single.
