Trailer Teases Foo Fighters’ HBO Documentary Series
Just last month, we heard that not only will the Foo Fighters’ next album come out later this year, but a documentary detailing its creation and concept will arrive with it.
Now, this past weekend, the band released a teaser for the series, called Sonic Highways. According to statements, the documentary, to follow the album’s concept, follows the Foo Fighters to iconic studios in eight major cities: Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and New York. Along the way, they collaborate with top performers from each location.
Previously, when announcing the concept, Dave Grohl called it: “a love letter to the history of American music.”
Right now, there doesn’t appear to be a title or official release date for the album. Grohl, who started talking about this release back when he was promoting documentary Sound City: Reel to Reel, has said it’s one of the most experimental, different things they’ve ever done.
While this album could bring together a wide range of musical styles over its eight tracks, we’ll have to wait and see what it sounds like. The release will follow 2011’s Wasting Light, which included singles “Rope,” “Walk,” and “These Days.”
