Tom Petty's Stolen Gear Found

Security guard arrested, band will start U.S. tour today in Broomfield, Colorado. Tom Petty's Stolen Gear Found

Police have recovered the five vintage guitars stolen from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' rehearsal studio in Culver City, Los Angeles. A security guard has been arrested in relation to the case.

The stolen gear included Petty's 1967 12-string blonde Rickenbacker 360 and 1965 Gibson SGTV Junior, as well as bassist Ron Blair's Fender Broadcaster and Scott Thurston and Mike Campbell's guitars. The gear has yet to be returned to the band.

Security guard Daryl Washington was arrested after police received a tip that one of the guitars had been sold to a Hollywood pawn show for $250.

The band had been offering a $7,500 reward on their website for any information on the stolen guitars, "no questions asked." The band was rehearsing for their U.S. tour, which is set to open in Broomfield, Colorado, today.

"I am extremely grateful to the Culver City Police Department for a job well done and touched by the outpouring of good wishes and concern from our fans and friends," Petty wrote in a post.
