Todd Harrell of 3 Doors Down Arrested After Fatal DUI Accident
Todd Harrell of rock band 3 Doors Down is being charged with vehicular homicide after a night out turned fatal on Friday. Harrell was drunk and speeding when he hit and killed 47-year old Paul Howard Shoulders Jr in Nashville, Tennessee. Shoulders’ was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle after it reportedly hit a guardrail and flipped in an embankment. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Harrell’s Cadillac is said to have hit a retaining wall and stopped a quarter mile away. Police report that Harrell failed the sobriety tests and admitted to drinking cider and had taken painkiller Lortab and Xanax. At the police station he was later charged with bringing controlled substance in to the jail aftyer they found Oxycodone, Oxymorphone and more Xanax in a plastic bag in his sock. He was held in custody as of yesterday, where he was released on a $100,000 bond.
This isn’t the first time Harrell has been charged with a DUI. Last year, he reportedly sped through an intersection before hitting a pick-up truck.
After hearing the news, 3 Doors Down wrote an official statement on Saturday saying, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time."
He is set to appear in court next Thursday. How unfortunate that he failed to learn the lesson the first time around, and now there is a family in mourning missing their loved one.
