DJ Shadow’s latest release, This Time, sounds a million miles away from the experimental hip-hop style associated with the California-based Solesides record label where Shadow aka Josh Davis made his reputation.
With an Amp Fiddler-style of spoonful soul funk jazz – rich strings mix maturely with a snappy piccolo snare beat to offer an easy listening nugget weighing in at 3.05 minutes.
If you hanker after the eerier tape splice vibe of Endtroducing then avoid… if you are seeking something to lift and banish the winter blues then this is certainly the tonic.
