The xx Announce New Album
It's been three years since The xx came onto the music scene with their self-titled debut. Last week, the British indie pop band has finally announced that their eagerly awaited follow-up, Coexist, will be released on September 11 in the U.S. and September 10 internationally through Young Turks.
The band wrote, "After a long time on the road, we took a break, created our own studio and wrote these new songs that we're so looking forward to playing to you." Their wish is coming true very shortly, as the band is about to set out on a giant world tour.
As band member Jamie Smith, fka Jamie xx, told Digital Spy, the album is inspired by club music. "We've all come back off tour and been partying a bit more. We left when we were 17 and missed out on that chunk of our lives when everyone else was partying. Club music has definitely had an influence on the next record."
