After a four-year absence, which included a hiatus and solo works, The Killers are returning with a new album. The V Festival was scheduled as their official comeback performance, but fans unable to catch the event, in which they co-headline with The Stone Roses, may have another opportunity. Announced today, the “Mr. Brightside” rockers are doing a pre-festival performance on August 17 at the O2 Academy in Leeds. The V Festival performances are scheduled for August 18 and 19. Tickets go on sale July 20.

Considered a warm-up for the V Festival, the August 17 performance is more than a comeback. In preparation for their upcoming album, Battle Born, on September 17, The Killers are debuting new material. Although, in the present time, there’s no word what new songs they’ll play, recent track “Runaways” could make it onto the setlist.

Making its official debut on July 10 on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 program, “Runaways” is now available online. In discussing the track, frontman Brandon Flowers said: "I've always felt good about this song. It's exciting to think that we're gonna be playing again – we want people to hear this new stuff."

In early June, the band gave fans a preview of Battle Born’s eclectic mix of sounds with a trailer. Stuart Price, Steve Lillywhite, Damian Taylor, and Brendan O’Brien produced the work, which is considered heavier than past efforts and was recorded in pieces over the past year.
