The Hives are Getting Ready for New Album
To prepare for their upcoming studio album, Lex Hives, The Hives released the video for their recent single “Go Right Ahead” and also sat down with Alternative Addiction. Speaking with the website, drummer Chris Dangerous mentioned the group is taking a different approach from that for their last release, 2007’s The Black and White Album. Mainly, to have full control of the sound, The Hives did all production; on The Black and White Album, the group ended up working with multiple producers. The result is a departure from the sound fans have grown accustomed to.
Presently in Germany and planning to perform more European dates, The Hives have found, according to Dangerous, fans are receptive to their new material. As far as fans on this side of the Atlantic are concerned, the group is coming over here in June. Then, they plan to tour in the U.S. and to other parts of the world for the rest of the year.
As far as the sound goes, Pelle Almqvist told NME this past week: "There's no formula, but it definitely sounds like The Hives. Every good band there is has a certain sound. There are a few songs that couldn't have been on any of other Hives album, that are sort of a departure, but I'd say that kind of happened on the last time album too. But I'd also say that they couldn't have been on any other album by anybody else either."
Lex Hives has 12 tracks, with two bonus ones added to the digital edition. These include:
'Go Right Ahead'
'I Want More'
'Wait a Minute'
'Take Back The Toys'
'Without The Money'
'These Spectacles Reveal The Nostalgics'
'My Time Is Coming'
'If I Had A Cent'
