The Bloc Party Releases Tracklist for New Album
Having last released an album in 2008 and going on hiatus, The Bloc Party are now plotting a comeback. Part of that involved a performance recently at Glasgow; the other portion is a new album. Aptly-titled Four, The Bloc Party’s upcoming effort is scheduled for an August release, and the tracklist was revealed this week.
Four was produced by Alex Newport, behind sounds for Death Cab For Cutie and The Mars Volta, and fans have had multiple opportunities to hear some of its tracks. On June 19, the band added seven new tracks to their Glasgow setlist, and a trailer featuring new music recently made its rounds on the internet.
The Glasgow show was their first in more than three years. Their set mixed new material with familiar songs. New tracks “3x3” and “So He Begins to Lie” opened the show and more were dispersed throughout. During the gig, frontman Kele Okereke told the crowd: "It's been a long time, this has been the most beautiful day I've ever experienced in Glasgow."
Later, about the performance, he said: "This has been the best possible start."
If you caught the gig, do you agree?
The 12 tracks fans should expect on Four include:
'So He Begins To Lie'
'3X3'
'Octopus'
'Real Talk'
'Kettling'
'Day 4'
'Coliseum'
'V.A.L.I.S.'
'Team A'
'Truth'
'The Healing'
'We're Not Good People'
