Another upcoming hip-hop album that’s somewhat anticipated is Snoop Dogg’s Blue Carpet Treatment. His last two albums, which were largely produced by the Neptunes, definitely had their moments. "Drop It Like It’s Hot," anyone? That one about controlling your ho? I wasn’t as crazy about so-called street single "Vato," but this second single, presumably for the bitches, features R. Kelly.

Illiterate though he may be, R. Kelly is kind of a genius. Who can front on a track as simultaneously retarded and sublime as the "Ignition" remix? Here though, he’s been reduced to Nate Dogg-style shitty R&B hook provider, not unlike his role on Biggie Small’s cinge-worthy "Fucking You Tonight." This beat by Nottz is alright for what it is. The publicity email I received for this makes it a point to note that it was "mixed down" by Dr. Dre, so I guess there’s that.
