Taylor Swift Sets New Record With 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'
Taylor Swift has broken another record by her latest record making a record-breaking entry in this week's Billboard Digital Songs chart. The track, of course, is We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together which is one of those songs that, once you hear it, you just can't get it out of your head!
It is an infectious, pop/country single which has raced up the charts since its release last week. Already more than 620,000 downloads have been sold, a new record for a song by any female artist. (Until recently, Ke$ha held the crown with the track "Tik Tok" selling 610,000 downloads in one week back in 2009.)
What has probably helped the success of the download sales is that the track appeals to fans of pop music and country music.
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is the first single to be pre-released from her next studio album Red which will be on the music-store shelves on 22nd October in the US, Canada, Australia and Japan. Taylor announced the news of the album release and the first single during a live YouTube webchat watched by almost half a million people worldwide. Since uploading onto YouTube, there have been more than a million hits so far - just an indication of the interest in the new album. Red is gonna be big!
Taylor has since thanked her loyal fans writing on Twitter, "I want to thank you guys for giving me my biggest first week ever with 'We Are Never.' I can't stop smiling. You guys are amazing!!"
