Taylor Swift Reveals Theme of New Album in Shanghai Interview
Regarding her follow-up to 2012’s Red, Taylor Swift has spoken about being ahead of schedule and collaborating more with other songwriters. But, really, what will the release sound like and who will it be about?
Many have wondered this already, and in an interview in Shanghai recently, during the last leg of her tour, the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer addressed it head on.
Swift starts by talking about the recording process. Essentially, once she gets back to the States from Asia, she’ll wrap up this project. However, as far as the topic, her life experiences remain fair game.
She told the interviewer: “As I’ve grown up, the things I’ve written about have completely evolved with how I was growing. I was writing songs about what it was like to be 18, what it was like to be 20, what it’s like to be 22 and now I’m 24 and I’m still writing songs about my life. I think I really just love the unity it brings me and the audience because chances are they’ve felt the exact same way I felt when I wrote the song and I think it kind of reminds them — and it reminds me — that the human experience isn’t so lonely.”
