Taylor Swift Intends to be “Confessional” on Next Album
Taylor Swift has been on the PR trail the last week giving hints about her next album – supposedly already ahead of schedule, according to a statement she made at the American Music Awards earlier this year.
What do we know so far? Based comments in Billboard, she thinks of this release as a “reinvention” – one in which she collaborates with more songwriters and starts to have a hand in production. But considering her recent singles started veering away from pop-country territory (instead, just simply being pop), these statements really mean her sound could go anywhere.
More recently, she spoke with Entertainment Weekly about her plans. For this round, she describes the album as being “confessional” (but aren’t all of her albums this way?), so we’ll have to see who she dishes on the most – that Kennedy kid she bought a house near in Cape Cod, or a certain member of One Direction.
She said: "Describing it is difficult. At the core of what I do, it’s always going to revolve around a confessional storyline and filling my fans in on what my life has actually been. It’s become this lifeline between me and my friends and they know that no matter what they read in some magazine, they’re going to hear the actual accounting of it when the album comes out.”
She then went onto say: “I’ve always written songs for the same reason - to sort through my emotions. As I grow up, the lessons I learn in love and relationships and how we treat each other are hopefully maturing - hopefully."
With possibly another year to go before this album comes out (Swift says she takes roughly two years to put together a new release), what do you think she’ll do – and more importantly, who do you think she’ll talk about?
