Swedish Electronic DJ Duo Cazzette Drop “Ni**as In Paris” Remix
Already a hit in its own right, Kanye West and Jay’Z’s “Ni**as In Paris” is now getting the remix treatment from Swedish electronic duo Cazzette. Part of the At Night Management family, the company started by Ash Pournouri that’s behind Avicii, Cazzette are seeing their profile rise with their innovative merging of dubstep and house – called “dub house” – and extremely dance floor-friendly remixes.
As Watch the Throne track “Who Gon Stop Me” showed, the collaboration of Kanye West and Jay-Z has dubstep potential. Only, while the rappers dropped high-quality rhymes, their timing was off. When it comes to dubstep, you just don’t keep rhyming over a bass drop. With Cazzette’s “Ni**as In Paris (Cazzette Ash That Sh*t Cray Mix),” the duo of Sebastian Furrer and Alexander Björklund display how hip-hop and dubstep can accurately be merged. As their profile starts to grow, Cazzette are taking part in the summer electronic dance music festival circuit. For 2012, they’re on the bill for Identity Festival and participated in Tomorrowland.
Although the duo are innovative remixers, Cazzette’s first proper single is expected to drop by the end of the summer. Other tracks garnering attention have included their takes on Avicii’s “Swede Dreams,” called “Sweet Dreams (Cazzette meet At Night Mix),” Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain,” and Swedish House Mafia’s “Save The World.” While the “Sweet Dreams” mix, released through Joia Records, placed for multiple weeks in the Beatport Top 20, Cazzette’s remix of “Save The World” transformed from a bootleg to official mix. By the fall, the duo are doing a 17-date tour of the U.S. and parts of Europe.
