Steven Tyler's Rock Rendition Of Star-Spangled Banner- Was It Bad?
While FOX's broadcast of the NFC NFL playoff match was immediately followed by an episode of "American Idol," the AFC championship game between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens had a bit of Idol taste for the viewers before the kick-off on Sunday. That was due to the surprise appearance of "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler, who had been invited to Foxborough's Gillette Stadium to sing the Star-Spangled Banner.
A number of people accused the legendary rocker of flubbing the US national anthem's wordings but that's not the talking point here. The issue is that Tyler's rock-rich rendition of the anthem was so bad and awkward that it quickly became a source of ridicule on the internet.
He tried to sing it in his own style by some high-pitched rock screaming but it fell really flat and sounded extremely weird in a stadium filled with some 68,000 fans.
The 63-year old crooner is a Patriots fan and he showed his support for the team by wearing a scarf with their logo on it. The home team did manage to shake off the aftereffects of Tyler's performance and won the game by a slim margin of three points. So in the end, everyone went home happily but the question remains: "What has happened to Steven Tyler's voice?"
