“Stay” is Next Single from Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic’

Already performed on ‘SNL,’ “Stay” is now officially the second single from Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic.’ “Stay” is Next Single from Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic’

At the last time Rihanna was on Saturday Night Live, she performed two tracks – then-current single “Diamonds” and a new track, “Stay,” from album Unapologetic. Since that point, “Stay” has been confirmed as the next single from the album, and this week, officially premiered on the radio in the U.K. The single hits stores in January 2013.

Unlike the dance-influenced hits from the singer’s last album, “Stay” has a more soulful sound, one more personal and emotional. Singer/songwriter Mikky Ekko wrote the track and also appears on the album version. Ekko did not perform on SNL with Rihanna.

While Unapologetic dropped earlier this month, the latest news regarding the singer is her 777 Tour. Not part of her Diamonds Tour scheduled for 2013, the 777 Tour had the singer traveling to and performing seven concerts, in seven cities, over seven days. Unfortunately, journalists described the experience as draining, nightmarish, and like hostage. Apparently, they just saw the singer during her first performance. During the trek, journalists reported, sleeping, eating, drinking, and using the bathroom were restricted for long stretches. Rihanna, as well, appeared to be under the influence of something.

Rihanna claims her lack of appearance had to do with resting up and being ready for each performance.

“Diamonds” has been doing well on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and Unapologetic went up to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 – making it Rihanna’s first No. 1 album in the U.S. The release is her fourth No. 1 album in the U.K. But, is “Stay” a good choice to follow up “Diamonds,” or is it like “You Da One” coming after hit “We Found Love”?

Stay is the only choice! It is the best song on the album hands down. Diamonds sucked!
