Soundgarden Has Plans for New Material
Just over two month ago, Soundgarden finalized its comeback with new album King Animal. But, after working together for two years, Soundgarden doesn’t have any plans to call it quits, and in fact, Chris Cornel recently revealed plans for new material.
About their plans to follow-up King Animal, Cornel said in an interview with Billboard: "I think the overall attitude about keeping it going and the way we want to treat it to keep it going is really good. There's nothing stopping us from continuing to make records and continuing to play shows, that's for sure."
Cornel revealed that the group comes up with something new every time they meet, but at the moment, they do not have plans for a definite album. Nevertheless, in getting back together, the group wants to focus on its efforts and not have tension amongst each other, outside interference, and deadlines. He said: "We had a good experience making this album, and since we've come back together everything has been kind of that way. […] Our attitude is that we're doing this because we love it and because it matters to us and not for any other reason, and everything else kind of takes care of itself."
King Animal opened at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, and to follow it, the band is doing a North American tour, which finishes on February 17. More 2013 performances are expected to be added at a later date.
