Shriners Ends Relationship with Justin Timberlake
We’ve all been there. Who hasn’t volunteered to be a part of some committee that, ultimately, we just never make time for? When we really have to, we will make an appearance but we just don’t want to carve out the time to really commit to the cause.
It happens to celebrities too, apparently, only their lack of involvement becomes public knowledge.
Shriners Hospitals for Children is pretty unimpressed with Justin Timberlake. The singer-turned-actor agreed to host the organization’s annual charity golf event but he allegedly never spends time with any of the sick kids. Now the Las Vegas PGA Tour is cutting ties with the star and were not shy about voicing their disappointment.
The charity’s trustee, Raoul Frevel, explained that they developed a relationship with Timberlake because they needed a big name but they have been surprised by his lack of hands-on time with the young patients. As a result, this year’s charity golf tournament will be his last.
Frevel said: "Justin's a wonderful person. But we tried everything we could to get him more involved with our kids and the hospitals. But it seemed that when the TV cameras weren't on, he disappeared."
Timberlake did help raise several millions of dollars. He teamed up with Shriners back in 2008.
