Rufus Wainwright Set to Marry Long-Time Partner
American-Canadian artist, Rufus Wainwright, is planning to tie the knot with his long-time partner, Jorn Weisbrodt, later this week in Montauk, New York. The pair have been engaged since November 2010.
The singer-songwriter confirmed the happy news to The Hollywood Reporter recently while the couple was in attendance at THR’s “Hollywood in the Hamptons” for a screening of Jake Gyllenhaal’s upcoming police drama, End of Watch. Guests say that the pair seemed happy and relaxed.
Since becoming engaged, the couple welcomed a daughter, Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen (that’s quite a name) and there’s no doubt that she will be inheriting the musical genes. Not only does she have Wainwright as a father, which his family’s long history in the industry, but Viva’s mother is Lorca Cohen, the daughter of Leonard Cohen! While Wainwright and Cohen, heirs of incredible Canadian music legacies, have agreed to raise their little girl together, Wainwright’s partner will serve as the “deputy dad.”
Wainwright is known for his thought-provoking, often controversial music but his voice may be most recognized for his version of Hallelujah, which is, of course, originally a Leonard Cohen song. He released his seventh studio album, Out of the Game, earlier this year.
