Robin Thicke Wanted Miley Cyrus to Twerk Even More at MTV VMAs Last Year
Robin Thicke was a part of one of the biggest news to come out of the music industry last year, thanks to Miley Cyrus. The event in question is of course the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, where Cyrus' twerking and other racy antics drew a lot of criticism.
People initially attached all the blame of that performance to the "Wrecking Ball" crooner. Some even suggested that she had improvised and added those grossly inappropriate dance steps without her co-performer's assent. But Thicke has now come forward to reveal that the entire routine had his blessings. In fact, he wanted it to be even raunchier than it was. In short, he is glad that Cyrus' act put him on the map.
"Listen, we had a great time," Thicke told Los Angeles Confidential. "It's entertainment. I was actually afraid Miley's routine wasn't going to be racy enough. But people reacted."
Even the 36-year-old singer's wife Paula Patton didn't have a problem with what went on between her husband and Smiley Miley on stage last August. The media attention he has received since that eventful night has forced her to look the other way too.
"Obviously, she's very excited," Thicke said. "She's supported me from day one. Sometimes she rolls her eyes. Things [I say] get misconstrued in interviews and then debated. So some of it's pretty weird."
