Robin Thicke Plans Follow-up to ‘Blurred Lines’
Taking a far more low-key approach than with last year’s Blurred Lines, Robin Thicke is already working on a follow up – and has even started discretely promoting it!
Thicke has been out performing new single “Get Her Back,” which, based on his life the past year, appears to be dedicated to estranged wife Paula Patton. Thicke, so far, has performed it at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards and on The Voice, on May 20th.
As well, according to Billboard, the release drops on July 1 – nearly a year after Blurred Lines. As the music publication notes, this is Thicke’s shortest gap between albums. The release comes out through Star Track and Interscope Records.
Beyond this, a title, tracklist, and artwork have not been revealed yet.
Blurred Lines is the R&B singer’s sixth full-length studio album overall and his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Thicke spoke about wanting to make a pop album and being inspired by Marvin Gaye, John Lennon, and Bob Marley. The release featured appearances from T.I., Pharrell Williams, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar and production from Will.i.am and Timbaland on a few tracks.
While “Blurred Lines” turned out to be its biggest hit, the album saw three other singles have moderate success on urban adult contemporary and top 40 radio: “For the Rest of My Life,” “Give It 2 U,” and “Feel Good.”
