Robbie Rivera Announces DJ and Production Competition
DJs and producers looking for their big break now have the opportunity for such visibility and recognition. This week, Robbie Rivera announced his online competition for a chance to perform with him at his Juicy Beach party in Miami, a main draw at the Winter Music Conference in previous years, and to put out a release through his own Juicy Music label.
The Grand Prize Winner, selected by Rivera, gets to perform a 30-minute set at the party on March 21, 2013, gets to release a track through Juicy Music, receives two VIP tickets, and will be featured on Rivera’s radio program The Juicy Show and through the DJ’s social media channels.
Rivera notes that the winner won’t be just another opener. Instead, whoever wins is being heavily promoted for the event.
The second-place winner, however, will be selected by fans. He or she will receive two tickets to Juicy Beach and exposure for their contest submission on Facebook.
To enter, producers and DJs must submit an original remix of Rivera’s “Makes Me Feel Good,” and all parts can be found here. For a clear display of DJing skills, the remix must additionally be part of a 15-minute mix. Contestants can submit remixes until February 10, 2013, and judging takes place from February 11 to the 18th. The winners will be announced on February 26.
Since 2005, The Juicy Beach party has been a draw during the Winter Music Conference. The 17-hour events held at the Nikki Beach Club have been known to attract other A-list DJing talent, including Deadmau5, Benny Benassi, Laidback Luke, and members of Swedish House Mafia, with club crowds reaching up to 5,500. After a successful event on Governor’s Island, the Juicy World Tour is expected to debut in 2013.
