Rita Ora Collaborates With Prince for Sophomore Album
Ever since news of her sophomore album started circulating in October, Rita Ora emphasized a back-to-basics approach; this, apparently, not only meant going back to her sonic influences like Prince and Chaka Khan but also getting the former to collaborate.
In an interview with The Sun, Ora spoke about the work for her next release – specifically going into the studio with Prince. While she didn’t mention if he wrote, sang, or produced a song, she explained: "I have met him (Prince) and I have had the honor of being in the same studio with him. We messed around with some music together and you know, I can't believe he can play so many instruments. All I can say is we've definitely done some music together."
Along with Prince, Ora has worked with Calvin Harris and Gwen Stefani so far.
Debut Ora, out in August 2012, reached the top of the U.K. album chart and also brought in a few international ranks. That release involved production from a diverse group – Diplo, Will.i.am, The-Dream, and The Invisible Men, among others – and collaborations with J. Cole and Tinie Tempah.
Since her debut’s success, Ora branched out into acting. Beyond appearing simply in commercials, she has had small roles in Spivs, 90210, and Fast & Furious 6 and now appears to be scheduled for a part in 50 Shades of Grey, expected to come out in 2015.
