Rihanna is Branching Out Into Fashion

If you’re at the top, of the charts and your career, where can you go from there? For Rihanna, who recently saw another massive hit with the Calvin Harris-produced “We Found Love,” the next logical steps are fashion and film.

Last August, the pop star discussed her role in the upcoming movie Battleship, including acting lessons, and more recently hinted fashion may have a bigger part in her career, aside from being the face for Emporio Armani jeans and lingerie.

Nevertheless, more details of the singer’s fashion line surfaced recently, after her interview on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. Although discussing the future of her music career, including finding a new sound and holding off on touring until next year, Riri went into greater depth about her clothing aspirations. First talking about a small collection for Emporio Armani, she stated: “It’s a collaboration, and it’s like 7-10 pieces. Apparel and accessories and we’ve done the fall collection already, and it was very, very successful and now the spring collection is about to drop.”

The singer, not stopping at one brand, has additional aspirations, explaining: “After that I’m really pursuing a fashion line of my own. I want to design. This is also a road that I want to earn it. So I’m working with designers. Designers that I respect, and [fashion] companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say ‘Buy it, because it’s mine.’”

Rihanna’s style changes with each album, and with a new sound on the horizon for her music career, her fashion choices could evolve as well. Considering she’s gone from lightweight pop (“Pon De Replay”) to strictly dance floor (“We Found Love”) and her hair and clothing styles have transformed just as drastically, what could her own collection look like?
