Rihanna Explains Difficulty of Love, Dad Approves of Chris Brown
Before the “incident,” Chris Brown and Rihanna were one of the music industry’s most beloved couples. Both were at the top of their game and, with their youthful romance, we all wanted them to live happily ever after. Unfortunately, things did not work out as planned and, after a serious altercation, pictures of Rihanna’s bruised and battered face were plastered all over the internet and Brown was appearing in court on assault charges. It was a nightmare.
It’s been a few years and, during that time, there have been all sorts of rumors about them reuniting and secretly meeting which, some say, is the reason she hasn’t had a steady boyfriend.
In the upcoming August issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Rihanna attempts to explain things from her perspective. She says: "When I was in love, I fell so hard. I was really, really, really in love. The way it made me feel was priceless. And in a blink of an eye my whole life changed. Everything that I knew was different. I never thought I'd feel that pain in my life. I'm afraid of feeling that again. If I come across someone who I find really cool, I'll hang out," she says. "But the minute I find that we're getting too close I just — I don't let people in."
Well, she sounded like she was ready to let “someone” in when she collaborated with Brown on her single “Birthday Cake” but she downplayed the significance of the duet: "I understood that people had every right to be concerned about it, but I didn't see it that way because I'm in a different place."
I don’t know if her father got the memo on that one, though. Ronald Fenty seems to be giving his seal of approval to his daughter, should she decide to rekindle her romance with Brown. He told Britain’s Grazia magazine: "Chris has matured a lot. I think everybody has to put the past behind them. And they seem to have done that. Being a couple is all up to her. Every decision is her decision. I just wish her the best. I hope things will work out. Everyone is entitled to make a mistake. Her fans are hoping it will happen. They see them as a perfect couple. [Chris] can make his own decisions. But, as a concerned parent, I would rather they not have any involvement... Sometimes you need to cut the strings and move beyond the past."
That’s very, very interesting. I’m not sure I could make all of those assumptions if I was Rihanna’s father but I guess he knows more about the situation that I do!
