Rihanna and Shakira Working Together on New Song, Says Pitbull
Get ready for what looks to be a top-notch pop collaboration. This week, Pitbull went on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning to promote new single “Timber,” featuring Ke$ha, and talked about how he initially wanted Rihanna for the country-EDM influenced track.
The reason the “We Found Love” star didn’t appear? She was already working on another duet with Shakira. He explained: "Ke$ha, I want to say thank you very much for giving us as amazing collaboration with 'Timber', which is doing great all around the world. With that said, that was an ironic situation there. The person we were looking at first to work on that record was Rihanna. There was something she had to do with Shakira, so she wasn't able to be on the record. Ke$ha is crazy, sexy, cool, wild and fun."
Others in the media have also confirmed the news, including the Chief Marketing Officer for Pepsi Frank Cooper. Shakira herself spoke about making a music video in the Bahamas.
What would you think about a duet between Rihanna and Shakira? Would it work? The track appears destined for Shakira’s upcoming studio album, her first English-language release since 2009.
Meanwhile, Rihanna is already at work on her eighth studio album, a follow-up to last year’s Unapologetic. Nicky Romero and David Guetta are reportedly producing. Right now, however, the pop star hasn’t come out and said anything about a new album – or even her collaboration with Shakira, for that matter.
