Red Hot Chili Peppers Writing a Follow Up to ‘I’m With You’
I’m With You, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 10th studio album, turned out to be yet another hit for the funk-rock outfit back in 2011. So after three years, the band now has plans for a follow up.
According to an interview drummer Chad Smith did with Billboard, the group has been writing songs for the past few months, although a specific sound has yet to be defined. He explained: "This is my favorite time, being creative, coming up with ideas. You go there at 11 o'clock with something that wasn't a piece of music, everyone collaborates on something, three hours later you've got something that's a piece of music that wasn't there before."
Smith continued to emphasize that the Chili Peppers plan to do something different this time – but aren’t sure what that will be. He said: "So we don't make the record that we made three years ago, we're gonna make something different. And you never know what that is going to be."
Out on Warner Bros., I’m With You was released in 2011. The album eventually reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the U.K. Albums chart. As well, it produced four singles, including hit “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie,” “Look Around,” “Monarchy of Roses,” and “Brendan’s Death Song.”
