Randy Jackson Has Left "American Idol"
Well, they’ve done it. They’ve really, finally done it. The bigwigs over at Fox have eliminated the last original judge on American Idol. It has been announced that Randy Jackson will not be returning to the show when it comes back next year.
Sources are saying that Jackson decided to leave Idol but it is entirely possible that he had a little encouragement… He has had a long career in the industry as a musician and as a producer and has worked with artists from many genres (he does name drop quite a bit) so he definitely brought some maturity to the panel but I guess he doesn’t fit the new “modern” image they are trying to attain to compete with the likes of The X Factor which will feature Britney Spears and Demi Lovato this year.
There has been a lot of speculation about who will serve on Idol’s judges’ panel with only Mariah Carey’s role being confirmed. Other names that have been tossed around are Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban but, the former could cause some trouble.
Carey is reportedly not a fan of Minaj and is threatening to walk if she is offered a contract. If it came down to it, I wonder who the executives would pick?
