R. Kelly to Release Next "Trapped In the Closet" Instalment on Black Friday
R. Kelly has confirmed that he will release the next instalment of his famed "Trapped in the Closet" series before the end of 2012. The exact date that has been set for the return of the highly-successful music series is November 23, which will be Black Friday.
Speaking in an interview with TIME last week, the R&B superstar said: "We just shot 20 chapters. They'll be coming out the day after Thanksgiving." When asked if his fans should expect to be treated with another fresh chapter of "Trapped in the Closet," Kelly replied: "Trapped in the Closet is forever. I've got like a hundred chapters to come."
The upcoming saga's title will be "Oh Shit!" and it will pick up right from where its predecessor left off in 2007. The very first "Trapped in the Closet" disc was released in 2005, which was followed by a second, two years later.
The series is famous for its unique structure which is broken down into songs (or chapters) and they collectively form a complete story. Each chapter has its own video, making each instalment of the series a one giant music fest.
But "Trapped in the Closet" isn't the only thing Kelly has been working on these days. The "I Believe I Can Fly" crooner is also working on a separate project titled "Black Panties," and as the album's name suggests, it would revolve more around what goes in his bedroom.
Talking about the theme of "Black Panties," he said: "I decided to go back and do an old-school R. Kelly album like '12 Play'. That's pretty much what it's going to be, focusing on more of the bedroom ballads. I like to give people variety and I just gave them two years of romance albums and soul."
