Prince Adds Dave Chapelle Parody to Cover Art
Although Dave Chapelle has essentially been in hiding for the past seven years, his show produced two pop culture legacies: His Rick James and Prince parody sketches.
Prince took the latter to heart, including the comedian’s image in the cover art for teased single “Breakfast Can Wait.”
On August 16, the singer announced on Twitter – just after three days of using the social media platform – the teaser with a simple update: “Game: Blouses”
For those that don’t get the reference, it indicates part of Chapelle’s skirt involving Prince playing basketball.
From there, a link led to a Youtube video featuring an image of Chapelle dressed up as Prince and holding a plate of pancakes.
Back in April, Prince began to talk about working on a new album, with a working title of Plectrum Electrum. At the time, he debuted new single “FIXURLIFEUP” and toured along the West Coast from April to early August.
Plectrum Electrum, which doesn’t have a release date yet, is a follow-up to 20Ten and would be his 34th release.
After not having a direct presence on social media, Prince starting posting to 3rd Eye Girl’s account. In roughly two days, their followers grew from about 10,000 to close to 150,000 and continue to increase. Through their website, he released new single “Groovy Potential.”
