Pitbull Announces Ke$ha Collaboration “Timber”
While their styles of music may overlap at times, and you might as well call what they do “party pop,” Ke$ha and Pitbull have collaborated on and off over the years. They first worked together in 2009, including a remix of Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” and collaboration “Girls,” and then co-headlined a tour throughout 2013. Now, Pitbull announced another collaboration.
The rapper updated fans on Twitter about a track called “Timber” that’s scheduled to drop in October. He wrote: “finishing touches on new single with thanks to @keshasuxx #TIMBER”
At this time, an official release date has not been revealed.
In March 2013, the two announced their co-headlining tour of North America and Australia. The trek began in May in Boston and finishes up in Sydney, Australia in November. The tour supported albums that dropped in late 2012: Pitbull’s Global Warming and Ke$ha’s Warrior.
While Global Warming proved to be a success, Warrior didn’t rank on the charts or sell as well as Ke$ha’s previous efforts, debut album Animal and EP Cannibal. The release opened at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and spawned hit “Die Young,” but since that point, all other Warrior singles failed to chart in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Unlike Animal, however, Warrior went for a rock-leaning sound, reinforced by guest appearances from Iggy Pop and The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne. As a sort-of follow-up (if you’re not counting Deconstructed), Ke$ha and The Flaming Lips have upcoming collaborative album Lipsha scheduled for sometime in 2013, although an official release date has yet to be specified.
