Pink Finally Scores a #1 Album

The pop star with a punk edge took time out to become a mother but she's better than ever. Pink Finally Scores a #1 Album

Truthfully, it’s kind of hard to believe that Pink has never had a #1 album before releasing The Truth About Love last week bit it’s true.  The effort moved 280,000 units which represents her best sales week ever. It’s also the third-biggest debut so far this year behind Justin Bieber’s Believe (374,000) and Madonna’s MDNA (359,000).

So much for the doubters who thought she would go “soft” after having a baby!  In fact, industry sources had predicted she’d only be able to sell 220,000 copies but she proved them wrong.

It didn’t hurt that she had a major promotional campaign with Target (the retailer offered an exclusive version of the album) complete with TV commercials.  She also performed on the Today show, Ellen and the MTV Video Music Awards.

The album’s lead track “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” is also performing very well and is her third #1 single along with 2010’s “Raise Your Glass” and 2011’s “F**kin’ Perfect.”  Only Katy Perry and Rihanna have more toppers in the Pop Songs chart’s 20 year history.

Her second-best release was 2001’s Mizunderstood which sold 220,000 and occupied the #6 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
