Pia Toscano Leaves 19 Recordings and Interscope
When Pia Toscano was eliminated from American Idol during the 10th season, some people were pretty stunned. She definitely had a good voice and it wasn’t surprising that she was given a record deal fairly quickly.
Unfortunately, this is not a story of happily-ever-after. After what Toscano calls a “difference of opinion,” the emerging singer has chosen to part ways with 19 Recordings and Interscope. She recently explained that their inability to come to an agreement has led to the delay of the release of her debut album which, she had hoped, would be ready to be released this fall.
She admits, however, that she is happy that things got put on hold for a while because she doesn’t think she was “ready for it” before and says that she will release her album when the “timing is right.”
"It makes sense for me because I really want to get my music out there," says Toscano of the split. "It's been a little while, yes, but to be honest, I'm happy for this delay because I don't think I was ready for it when this all started happening." She still plans to release a record when the "timing is right."
Here’s the thing, though. Pia auditioned for Idol five times, she finally made it on for the 10th season and, while she had a great voice, there was something about her that didn’t quite connect with the voting viewers at home. Her first single “This Time,” which she performed on the American Idols Live! tour did not perform very well at all. Maybe it is better that she take some time to figure out who she really is as an artist so that when she does enter the music scene, she’s confident in who she is. It makes all the difference!
