Phillip Phillips To Perform In DC On July 4th
Now that American idol winner Phillip Phillips has recovered from his surgery the winner of the 2012 season has made big plans to take his first trip to Washington. Phillips will sing at the National Mall in celebration of the July 4th holiday. The annual event is scheduled to air on the PBS Network according to MTV.
Speaking to the Associated Press about his exciting plans, Phillips emphasized the importance of the event to him as an artist. This also marks the star's first performance since his surgery. "It's probably the biggest thing I've ever done besides American Idol," Phillips told the AP. "I'm just excited to get out there and do my first real live performance since everything that's been going on."
Now that surgery is behind him, Phillips says that he is feeling well again after a rough struggle through this past season’s American Idol where he still managed to win the title. "I'm getting better each day, so that's a good thing. I'm just walking around, getting my strength back together," he said. "It was tough, you know, those first few days, but I'm getting to where I can pick the guitar back up and write a little bit."
The 4th of July event will also include country singer Josh Turner, Megan Hilty, actor Matthew Broderick and well known composer John Williams.
