Pet Shop Boys to Support Take That
British band, Take That, have enticed fellow Brits, Pet Shop Boys, into performing a forty minute introductory set for their concert tour of the UK. The Pet Shop Boys are an electronic dance music duo who started back in 1981 and went on to become one of the world's best selling artists. To date the 'West End Girls' hitmakers have sold over 100 million discs worldwide, winning numerous awards including BRIT Awards, Grammy nominations, many Top 10 hits in the UK Singles Charts, and four number one hits for 'West End Girls', 'It's a Sin', 'Always on My Mind' and 'Heart'.
Last November, the Pet Shop Boys released a greatest hits album entitled "Ultimate" along with a new single 'Together'.
The duo have been persuaded to join Take That as their support act prior to the 'Back For Good' hit-makers moving on to the European leg of their Progress Live 2011 concert tour.
Robbie Williams is a huge fan, and can't believe that these guys will be opening the show. He comments that he grew up listening to their albums, and is so pleased to be associated with them. Williams went on to say, "I'm a huge Pet Shop Boys fan so it will be an absolute joy to watch them every night."
The Progress Live 2011 tour kicks off in the UK at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on May 27th, followed by further stadiums around England, finishing off with a mammoth 8 nights at London's Wembley Stadium in July.
Recently Take That released their latest album "Progress", which was preceded by the early release of the single 'The Flood'. Peaking at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, to date the song has sold more than half a million copies. The album has chalked up even more impressive statistics, selling around 500,000 copies in just its first week on the market. Take That have now become Amazon's highest-selling music of all time.
