"Paralyzer" Video Review

Finger Eleven haven't released an album since 2003's self-titled effort, but the wait will finally end on March 13 with the release of Them Vs. You Vs. Me.

The band wrote and recorded more than 100 songs while working on the Wind-up album, with tracks often being created electronically as members would post and build on sound files exchanged via the internet. The musical influences on the disc include rock, country, dance, funk and vintage '60s songs. Apart from the normal rock instrumentation you'd expect, the album will feature assorted keyboards, xylophones, lap steel, violin, banjo and other music-making devices.

Finger Eleven said that they're really happy with the album, and that it allows them to show more of their sense of humour than past releases. A video will accompany the song "Paralyzer."

The band were originally called Rainbow Butt Monkeys when they formed in Burlington, Ontario last decade, but they've released three albums for Wind-up as Finger Eleven since 1998. Their self-titled disc was certified platinum for selling more than 100,000 copies in Canada, as the hits "One Thing" and "Good Times" spurred strong interest. The "One Thing" clip was named video of the year at the 2003 MuchMusic Video Awards.

Finger Eleven received the International Achievement Award for bringing international recognition to Canada through their music at last week's SOCAN Awards, where "One Thing" was honoured for being one of the two most played Canadian rock songs on domestic radio in 2005. The quintet made their first public appearance of the year at the event.
