Patience is wearing thin with Saigon. Heralded "smart MC that will also beat your ass" more times than we'd like to recount, the former "Entourage" star's first street single from the forever forthcoming The Greatest Story Never Told is a turgid series of stories. The whole point of a street single is to get an artist's audience gassed with something raw but catchy-- accessible enough that heads will learn all the words, but just roughneck enough that it'd never work in the major market. "Pain in My Life" is one of the softest records Saigon has ever recorded. Whatever sadness he's trying to convey here is washed out by Trey Songz's soggy semantics; he gets to moan and amble during the chorus, bridge and extended outro. Sai's sharp, methodical phrasing is intact, but his subject matter is neither universal nor affecting, despite his intentions.
