OneRepublic Previews New Track “Love Runs Out”
This week, OneRepublic previewed their next single, a track called “Love Runs Out.” The cut from Native sessions, but didn’t make it onto the official edition of the album, could be a one-off track or a song from the extended edition.
“Love Runs Out” had once been planned as the album’s first official single, but instead, that went to “Feel Again.” In an interview with the BBC, Ryan Tedder explained why they eventually had to cut this track: “‘Love Runs Out’ was originally going to be the first single on our album but I couldn't crack the chorus. It gutted me because I had it marked on the board as ‘first single’ for six months. Brent Kutzle, who is the cello and bass player in the band, said: ‘Man, we cannot put this out with an A+ verse and a B+ chorus.’”
Tedder appeared to be attached to the track, but then had to later admit it wouldn’t work as a first single: “It was completely crushing my ego but I was like: ‘He's right.’ The verse was an A and everything else was an A but the chorus was a B. So we tabled it.”

Native had originally been scheduled for the end of 2012, but was pushed back to March 2013. OneRepublic quickly followed this up with a tour.
The release has been their highest-charting in the U.S., peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The album, so far, generated four singles: “Feel Again,” “If I Lose Myself,” “Counting Stars,” and “Something I Need.”
