Now on Tour, Demi Lovato Plans to Start Recording Fifth Album
Demi Lovato’s latest tour began this past weekend, but in addition to performing as she goes on the road, the former Disney star plans to do something else – record a new album. The release would follow up last year’s Demi.
In speaking about her plans, Lovato said in an interview: “I’ve already started recording for my new album, and I have plans to record during the tour. The sound, it just evolves into everything that I’ve been [through] and everything that I want to become. I've never been so sure of myself as an artist when it comes down to confidence, not only personal things but exactly what I want my sound to be and what I'm capable of."
Demi was a change for the singer/actress, who previously explained its predecessor, Unbroken, was too generic. Out in May 2013 on Hollywood Records, Demi had more of a dance/pop sound, with Lovato having a greater hand in writing; specifically, she was behind 10 of the album’s 13 tracks.
When the album dropped, it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, selling 110,000 copies its first week and turning out to be the biggest hit of her career. Additionally, the album did equally as well internationally.
The release generated three singles: “Heart Attack,” “Made in the U.S.A.,” and “Neon Lights.”
