"Nothing In This World" Video Review
Turns out there some great songs on this album, and here’s one of them. Dr. Luke sans Max Martin does the Luke/Max rock template, replacing angst or anger or whatever else with love-on-the-dancefloor Kylieism and boyfriend-stealing spite.
The standard driving rock beat is replaced with steady-sailing dance-pop bounce, and there are some needly upbeat guitars guiding the song’s playful melody, with occasional synth decoration. It’s a fairly understated, sophisticated production, and Paris steals the show with one of her strongest performances.
She matches the song’s energy with her modest but distinctive pipes instead of trying to force her way above it like a diva. She’s not a diva, but she does have a lovely voice, and for what it’s worth, she sounds like she’s having fun.
