No Doubt Announce Release Date for Upcoming Album
No Doubt is one of a handful of 1990s chart-topping acts to recently reunite, and rather than simply tour, they’ve been planning to release an album. While the band had formally gotten back together in 2009, their release – the latest since 2001’s Rock Steady – was delayed. However, on Friday, the band put out a video and released a statement on their website regarding their upcoming album, announcing its release date.
As of now, No Doubt’s first studio album in 11 years is scheduled for September 25. To fans, the band wrote on their website: "Thank you all so much for your support over the last 25 years. We're really proud of our new album and we hope you love it as much as we do."
Presently, however, a title still has not been revealed. The group mentioned, in their update, that they will be providing fans with pictures and webisodes until the album’s release.
Compared to a decade ago, No Doubt, particularly singer Gwen Stefani, have branched out and have different commitments. Over the last 10 years, the singer put out two solo records and started her own fashion line, L.A.M.B., which turned out to be a success. More recently, she was brought onto American Idol as a mentor.
No Doubt last updated fans in January. At the time, they described the release’s recording process, saying they’ve been in various studios around Los Angeles. Additionally, they stated they hoped to have the album out before the end of 2010, but rather than simply getting a new release ready quickly, they have aimed to make the best record possible. At the time, Stefani said: "The main thing we were trying to do is write really catchy good songs. We got about 10 songs done and we want to do a few more just in case, but it's a really good record, I really love this record."
