Nicki Minaj Pushes Back Sophomore Album, Premieres “Stupid Hoe” Video
Nicki Minaj promised more of character Roman Zolanski on her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Yet, as the video for the album’s latest single, “Stupid Hoe,” indicates, her sophomore disc isn’t solely an ode to Roman. Rather, her Barbie character, of pink wigs and a pastel universe, is back.
Directed by Hype Williams, “Stupid hoe” premiered on January 20. Watch the full video here:
Just the time her latest video premiered, Minaj gave fans some disappointing news. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was scheduled for a February 14 release. She tweeted: "New Album Date: April 3rd. Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED. But have no fear. Tons of surprises before then ;). Love Always, HB."
With an April release date, Roman Reloaded will go through a greater introduction. “Stupid Hoe” is Minaj’s latest single, but the video for “Roman in Moscow” sets the tone for the album. She told MTV: "'Roman in Moscow' is like a teaser to ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.’ When I say it's a teaser, it's like a trailer to the movie, it's like setting the stage, and I just wanted to touch the surface. It's the wackest thing on ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.’"
As far as the song’s – and likely video’s – storyline is concerned, Minaj went into detail, saying. “Well, he was there [in Moscow] secretly because [alter ego] Martha wanted him to go there, so they put him in this thing with monks and nuns; they were trying to rehabilitate him. But I can't tell exactly what happened, you'll just see it in the video format, but let's just say he got out of there."
