Nicki Minaj May Release a New Album This Year
Possibly as a result of fan backlash regarding a stronger pop turn on her last album, Nicki Minaj has been doing a few guest verses. One of the latest was the remix of “Danny Glover,” and in looking at the lyrics, MTV found that the rapper may have announced plans for an album this year.
While Minaj has talked about putting together a follow-up to Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, she hadn’t given a release date. MTV News seems to believe that the following hints at a new album, plus a mix tape to precede that, this year: "It's like, I'm working on the album and a mixtape at the same mothef---ing time."

If so, the untitled third studio album would follow a release that went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as well as R&B and rap charts in the U.S., and netted the rapper a handful of successful singles: “Starships,” “Pound the Alarm,” “Va Va Voom,” and “Beez in the Trap.” The album has since gone platinum for Minaj.
To keep putting out music, she decided to release an extended play version at the end of 2012: The Re-Up. Although its success didn’t match the original album, it gave fans a second disc of new music and a DVD and put out moderately-successful genre singles like “The Boys,” featuring Cassie, “Freedom,” and “High School.”
