Nicki Minaj Announces New E! Reality Series
Nicki Minaj is currently part of long-standing reality program American Idol, but before the television talent contest debuts, the rapper is getting her own brief series. Announced on October 28, the “Starships” rapper’s three-episode series Nicki Minaj: My Truth is scheduled to start airing on November 4, with a DVD scheduled for November 19.
Minaj previously discussed a potential series in an interview with Perez Hilton in September. Still in the consideration phase, the series, she explained, would make her seem more authentic: "I will say that I find the more people see, is the more they understand, and then it's the more they like you. When you pull them in your world, they see you as a real person. I'm not running away from it anymore."
The announcement of her series coincides with new music. While she appeared in Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat” just a few weeks ago, the video for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded track “Va Va Voom” came out. Last single “Pound the Alarm” sounded too similar to hit “Starships,” but “Va Va Voom,” even sticking with the rapper’s blend of dance-meets-hip-hop, is something new.
Following “Va Va Voom” is a deluxe version of her sophomore effort. Called Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up, the new release will feature five or six new tracks. If you haven’t had a chance to see “Va Va Voom,” watch the video below:
